Andrew Sullivan: Off The Deep End

The Chris Matthews Show is always good for entertainment. A handful of libs sitting around a small table chatting about how best they can get Dear Leader elected.

Once a week is about all of this anybody can take.

Andrew Sullivan was one of the five (counting Chris) lib panelists this week talking about Barack Obama's debate failure, why it happened, and how he needs to fix it. His quote was one for the ages.

"I think that they (bad evil Republicans) got into his (Obama's) head with all this racist stuff before the first debate, you know, the Hannity stuff, 'look there's a black guy running for office,' like two days before, I think he, he, he (has) repression of his own anger.

"He (Obama) should be angry that these people (Romney, Ryan, and more bad, evil Republicans)  have the gall to talk to him about the deficit and the gall to talk to him about foreign policy after their record."

So, lets see here, so much to dissect with this one statement. Sean Hannity apparently just figured out two days before the recent Presidential Debate that Obama was black and he launched a racist attack at Obama (who apparently watches Hannity) and that got into his head to the point that it messed him up during the debate. That makes perfect sense. Why not just blame the altitude, Andrew?

The second half of the quote is even better. Sullivan calls himself a "journalist" but he doesn't want anybody attacking Dear Leader. Talking "truth to power" is now, "people have the gall to talk to him."

Let's see here. Obama's deficits are 5 times greater that George W. Bush's and Sullivan does not want Obama to be questioned about that. Obama's foreign policy is filled with lies (lies that the administration knew they were making at the time,) the middle east is falling apart, and Sullivan doesn't want anybody to question Obama about that.

While we're at it, the bigger question here; what are Romney's deficits and foreign policy failures? He has none. He has never been president. Sullivan thinks Romney is George W. Bush. Please get some new glasses, Andy.

Which speaks to the essence of the Obama Campaign 2012. Andrew Sullivan exposed it. Obama is running on Bill Clinton's record and attacking George W. Bush. It's all he's got.

Forward.

America, Finally Seeing The Real Mitt Romney

The media is trying to figure out how this happened.

How could Mitt Romney be blasting his way to the top of the polls after just one debate?

Would you like a very simple answer? Here it is: The media tried to tell America that Romney was one thing, while the debate showed them he was another. The difference between the two are seen in the poll numbers. It really is that simple.

For the last year or so the media created a template that reflected their opinion, not reality. Mitt Romney was a gaffe machine who didn't care about people and wasn't intelligent enough to reside within the blinding light of their Dear Leader.

The media has spent this time being dishonest to Americans about Mitt Romney.

I know Mitt Romney and have spent plenty of one-on-one time with him. As a sports reporter I covered the 2002 Olympics and saw first hand his ability to fix things. I had many friends who worked with him and they all came back with the same story. They were amazed at his ability to lead and succeed.

During my times with Romney I have seen him as very personable, approachable, and caring. Yes, caring. Everything the media has told us he is not.

I arrived late to a meeting a couple years ago with a handful of people in the room (yes, I arrived late for a meeting with Romney,) not to worry, with no chairs in the room, Romney quickly stood up and offered me his. A little thing---a personal thing---but it told me a lot about the man.

Yes, Obama was horrible during the Disaster in Denver. He acted like he would've rather been hitting a buried ball out of the sand at the 9th hole at Congressional Country Club (hey Barry, nice recovery!) than actually having to answer Romney's questions about the economy (hey Barry, nice recovery!) But that's just part of the issue here, the bigger issue is that the media told us Romney was something that he is not. The polls reflect the disconnect between what the media told us, and what the people have seen.

A 12 point swing in the Pew Poll doesn't happen by accident, it only happens when the media lie to the American people about what a candidate is and they figure out the truth on their own. The debate was Romney unfiltered. Nothing about his performance surprised me, but that night, America finally saw Romney for who he is.

There is still time for the media to turn this election around. Over the next four weeks they will try every trick in the book. The media have too much invested to back up now. Like the cheap, transparent, Vegas magician, you can see the cards up their sleeve and they will pull them out and play them at every turn. It is what it is, except more people are now on to their sleight of hand.

Unprepared in Vegas

The Hangover III

The Empty Chair has better odds in Round Two.

Buster Douglas was better prepared for his fight against Evander Holyfield. Buster came to Vegas, took naps at the golf course, spend evenings at the buffets and decided not to train for his only Heavyweight Championship defense. It ended in a third-round knockout. Not sure if Barack Obama failed to train while spending 3 days here in Las Vegas before his debate, but if he did, he's in more trouble than anybody knows.

Certainly, most people who come to Vegas and spend three days here, expect to leave losers, but not this bad. I've seen a lot of Presidential Debates in my lifetime and never has there been a bigger blowout. At least some people who listened on radio thought Nixon beat JFK. You could've listened through a string and cup and the conclusion would've been the same. Romney by KO.

As the media searches, questions, wonders and freaks out (didya see MSNBC?) over why Mitt Romney smacked Barack Obama silly on Wednesday night, there are two simple answers---1) Romney has truth and facts and Obama is armed with failure, 2) the media lobbing non-stop softballs has left Obama totally unprepared.  Obama's friends in the Activist Old Media bear much of the blame for the Denver Disaster 2012.

Think about it---at every turn Romney has been challenged, badgered, questioned, and queried over and over again and he has been forced to come up with answers. As it should be. Republicans know the game and it is not a level playing field. Obama has been coddled, protected, babied, and fed pablum by his media and when finally challenged, he fails miserably.

Yes, the media's game plan for Obama Victory 2012 has backfired miserably. It's just Round One in a Five Round debate season, but there were times when I almost felt sorry for Obama on that stage. Almost. Jim Lehrer finished second on this night mainly because he fed Obama better answers than Obama gave himself.

Romney still has Fast and Furious and Benghazi in his quiver. He fired Solyndra with laser-like accuracy.

The Veeps are up next. I'm making Paul Ryan a 14 and a half point favorite. Early money is coming big on Ryan. This line will be -17 by kickoff.

The Media and Obama, Taking Us Down The Rabbit Hole

To re-elect Barack Obama the media has a long list of what they expect us to believe. We would have to "suspend disbelief" (as Hillary Clinton once said of General David Petraeus) to vote for Barack Obama on November 6th.

Okay, let's suspend disbelief.

This is Alice and the "Rabbit Hole" at it's finest. Choose a pill, jump right in, and don't mind the smile on the Cheshire Cat---that's just the Activist Old Media having a good laugh as they try to convince us the Queen of Hearts will protect our best interests.

The media expect us to believe that Barack Obama is a foreign policy expert, and Mitt Romney knows nothing about foreign policy. How's the middle east looking?
The media expect us to believe the Arab Spring was a good thing and the Muslim Brotherhood are our friends.

The media expect us to believe Obama cares about national security, even though he golfs more often than he goes to intel briefings.

Grab that croquet mallet, Queenie, we have a tee time.

The media expect us to believe we are more angry over how Romney spends his money than how Obama spends ours.

The media expect us to be angry over Romney's taxes, while we watch government spending and ObamaCare send our own through the roof.

Take another blue pill.

The media expect us to believe that if only Obama had a few trillion more dollars, unemployment might go down to 7.9%.

The media expect us to believe that those millions who have stopped looking for work, must really not want to work.

The media expect us to believe the unemployment numbers aren't rigged.

The media expect us to believe that we just have to pay $4.00 a gallon. The new normal.

The media expect us to believe that, if only they would cooperate, Obama would work well with Republicans, even though he never has, while Romney can't work well with Democrats, even though he has.

The media expect us to believe they aren't choosing sides in this election.

Got another blue pill?

The media expect us to believe Obama is transparent even though he has given them only two short new conferences this year.

The media expect us to believe Obama is the Great Uniter who will bring us all together.

The media expect us to believe that a Beer Summit is how problems are solved.

Oh...pay no mind...that's just a blue caterpillar sitting on a mushroom smoking a hookah. He could be Chief of Staff during the Second Term.

The media expect us to believe that somebody who won't care for his own brother is really his "brothers keeper."

The media expect us to believe Joe Biden is just a lovable, old, harmless gaffe machine and not The Dodo running a never ending Caucus Race.

The media expect us to believe that Obama is the smartest person on the planet, even though he won't show anybody his academic records.

The media expect us to believe that if only Obama had 4 more years, he would finally get it right.

Oh, I'll bet Lewis Carroll would be proud of the literary nonsense being spread by the Activist Old Media these days. Perhaps there's a reason Carroll penned the blue pill as blissful ignorance and the red pill as the sometimes painful truth of reality.

America needs the red pill November 6th. Time for another Tea Party.

Media Protects Obama, Blames Movie For Terrorist Attacks

At a time of tragedy when Americans have been murdered by brutal terrorists in Libya, who will defend Liberty?
Not the American TV networks.
They instead blame the principle of free speech, Liberty itself, if you will, for these horrendous attacks.
A movie made in the USA depicts Muhammad in a negative light and the American media seems to excuse the murderous actions of terrorists because of the movie. Holy hell---what country did I wake up in?
MSNBC went a step further, even excusing the attacks because of the movie.
"These protests are taking place, this anger is all based on that film that the US government has come out and chastised," was the question asked to Richard Engel of NBC while on the ground in Cairo.
"This is all based on that film, but it's more than that, this is a perceived insult, an attack on Islam," responded Engel. "It touched such a sensitive issue and they feel they could not take this lying down, they had to come out and speak for their prophet, speak for their religion."

Terrorists don't hate us because of a movie. Islamic extremists declared jihad on the free world 30 years ago. The media expects us to believe that a movie made 'em do it, and Engel is excusing their actions. "They could not take this lying down."
This was the reaction across the board from the Activist Old Media.
Where does the media stand on free speech? If you threaten to take away First amendment rights the media would be the first to take a stand, and rightly so, but when it comes to Muslim terrorists, they somehow forget that founding principle.
The main reason the media blames the movie is to excuse the horrendous foreign policy of Barack Obama. They cannot point to the numerous failures by this president. Obama has missed most intelligence meetings at the White House, but has been able to sneak in 104 rounds of golf.

The media flip flops on free speech in order to protect their Dear Leader. Blame a movie, because you cannot blame Obama.
Holy hell, what country did I wake up in?

ABC News: "They Are Happy to Have A Party When Black People Drown"

Updates from John Nolte, Breitbart.com

***UPDATE III: Yahoo just announced they have terminated Chalian effective immediately.

***UPDATE II: Romney camp comments:  "It hasn’t even been 24 hours after the primetime speech line up at the Republican National Convention last night, and you can already tell how successful and powerful of a night it really was by the complete and utter meltdown the mainstream media is experiencing today. ... Most shockingly, Yahoo! Washington Bureau Chief David Chalian got caught on an ABC webcast saying that Mitt Romney would be “happy to have a party when black people drown.”
***UPDATE: ABC News reached out to Breitbart News to name the man heard mocking the Romneys during this ABC News livecast: David Chalian (pictured) of Yahoo! News. Chalian is a former political director with ABC News, but according to ABC News has no association with the network now. The headline has been changed to reflect this update, as has the story itself.

This is the culture that the Republicans and Mitt Romney are fighting during this election.
ABC News was running a live feed of the Republican National Convention and an unknown ABC staffer can be heard saying the Romney's are, "happy to have a party when black people drown." Referring to the timing of the hurricane and the RNC.
You don't get more egregiousness and indicative than this. These are the conversations that take place in newsrooms. These are the people editing the video tape, producing the newscasts, writing the copy and dictating what the public see on evening newscasts. This is what they believe. You can hear it on their broadcasts through their anchors, but rarely do you get this snapshot of their mindset.
The comment was met with laughter and was preceded by the statement, "they aren't concerned at all." This was happening while video of the Romney's was playing during the live internet feed.
ABC News must address this. They owe the Romney's an apology. They know who this staffer is and she must be fired. If not, then they condone this behavior.
I could write a thousand columns on comments like these, and similar comments I heard while working in newsrooms. The open cries and tears when George W. Bush was elected in 2000 come to mind right now. There was weeping and wailing. It is the culture. Leftists live and thrive in this environment and they are rewarded with advancements. Rarely are they held accountable.

Of course, ABC News and the rest of the Activist Old Media should work to change the culture that harbors leftist bias, but they will not. It's who they are. It's too deep, too ingrained, and they really don't want to change it. It's like telling a rattlesnake not to bite. They will cease to exist before they correct the culture.
ABC News, you know who said this live on your internet broadcast, the next move is yours.

Miller vs. Leno, And The Winner Is.....

It's tough to watch late night TV much anymore. Letterman is just a bitter, angry old man. Kimmel will take advantage once ABC moves Nighline out of his way, but that doesn't happen until January; and Leno has now officially gone of the rails.
Jay had Dennis Miller on last night and, as expected, Miller was rock solid with jokes, and Leno couldn't get out of his leftist way.
"At this point Biden's so silly they outta put one of those plastic dog collars around his neck so he doesn't hurt himself," joked Miller. All "Jay the Joke Killer" could add was, "I like Joe." Ya, whaddya like him for, he gives you punch lines? Jay, save the punch lines for one of your mechanics---we'd like to have a VP that is actually competent and doesn't sound like he spent the last 6 years sparring Rampage Jackson without headgear. Plugs won't help with that.
It gets better.
Jay believes Republicans have a War on Women (he's not joking.) I always thought he was smarter than that; I knew Letterman wasn't, but I thought Jay was. Miller talked about how he likes Barack Obama's execution of the War on Terror (by maintaining the Bush Doctrine) and all Leno could say was, "I think he (Obama) has compassion for regular people, if the Republican Party is missing anything it's this sort of, War on Women." Jay was serious about that. Let's just vote for the spirit of Mother Teresa and we'll have everything we need there, Jay. We would have compassion taken care of, women taken care of, and Chicago's dearly departed could come out of the graves again and have a candidate they could relate to.
Oh, it gets better still.
Leno then brings up Todd Akin and claims that "he (Akin) was saying what the (Republican) platform is...it shows what many believe." Jay, stick to car jokes. Your politics are about as funny as 4 missing lug nuts on your Duesenberg SG.
Miller capped it off his spectacular appearance by saying of Obama, "it's been an inept 4 years." "I wanna help the helpless, but I don't give a rats ass about the clueless anymore, Jay." Big cheers for that line.
I don't want to be mean here Jay, but you can now be numbered amongst the politically clueless.  Please, somebody give Miller a late night TV gig.

Networks Feature Mormonism Prior to Romney Nomination

I expected the worst when I heard ABC and NBC were going to do in-depth examinations of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a life long Mormon and journalist, I had gotten used to the media clouding their reporting on the LDS Church.

ABC used good judgement by not showing video of the sacred Mormon garments, NBC did not use that same discretion.

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised at the accuracy and context with which the reporting was done.

ABC's Dan Harris did a two-part series that was simply factual about the LDS Church. No frills or opinions, just the facts about the Church. He focused on the temples and showed video of the inside of a temple yet to be dedicated in Brigham City, Utah. He accurately portrayed the history of persecution inflicted on members of the Church 150 years ago. It was very well done and kudos to Harris for his reporting.

NBC did a full hour with Brian Williams on Rock Center focusing on the LDS Church. They mentioned some of the controversial aspects of the Church, but for the most part, did it fairly. In a conversation with Abbey Huntsman (who is a former Mormon and daughter of former Republican candidate for President Jon Huntsman) Williams talked about how he would like to be able to walk into a Mormon temple and see what was inside, as he could with any other church, but they failed to mention that Mormon churches are open to anybody who wants to go inside, temples are not. It's a minor point, but the distinction between a church and a temple in the LDS faith should've been made.

NBC's special focused on the service within the faith and how that shapes people's lives. Harry Smith pointed out the welfare services that are second-to-none and how Mormons take care of their own and also serve those outside the Church. You couldn't watch this segment without thinking this would be a great model for the nation.

I thought NBC did a great job explaining how serving an LDS mission shapes the lives of members of the Church. You learn to serve, you learn to love others, you learn to sacrifice, and when you live outside America for 2 years, you learn to love this country and you forever have a unique perspective of the world. I served in Ireland when I was 19 years old and so much of that experience has defined my life. Mitt Romney's experience in France in the late 60's is a large part of who he is. When Romney talks about his concern of America taking on the negative aspects of European socialism, he knows of what he speaks, and he can explain it in French if he needs to.

The media may do hit pieces on the LDS Church between now and November 6th to attack a potential Romney presidency,  but for the most part, their coverage this week has been fair and should be applauded.

Media Attacks Romney on Olympics

Like any political campaign, you are told to attack your opponents strengths. Make no doubt about it, the Activist Old Media is Barack Obama's most powerful SuperPAC and they are out to attack Mitt Romney on his strength.
Take the Olympics.
Mitt Romney speaks his opinion based on what he, and others have seen about the 2012 Games while in London and the media, wanting so hard to proclaim a "Romney gaffe" go into full attack mode on the Republican candidate. Everybody seemed to jump on this, ABC's David Muir said, "So many Brits are boiling...a rough first stop." "Boy, it sure was," added George Stephanopoulos. Hey guys, you wanna see rough? Let's check out rough. Let's compare actual Olympic experience.
The media has created this battle, clear and simple. It wasn't like Romney attacked everybody who had ever built a business in America (who was it who did that?) he simply gave his opinion that it was a bit "disconcerting" to see lack of preparation in some areas in London. Many observers in Great Britain have said the same thing. Now, an Olympics expert giving his opinion is called a "gaffe" by the media. ABC's Rick Klein can't wait to declare that Romney and gaffes is a "long term pattern" that he is falling in to. You want gaffes? Go to Europe and talk to people in Austria about speaking "Austrian." Obama did that and the media ignored it and the many other gaffes made by this President (and don't get us started on Biden and gaffes.) The scary thing about Obama's statement here is that it was not only a gaffe, he must also think "Austrian" is a real language, or he would not have said what he said.
As a reporter, I covered the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City that Mitt Romney saved. I challenge ABC and the other networks to do extensive research on what Romney did to save those Games that were facing financial ruin and were held at a time following 9/11 when security questions in this country were at their highest level. The Games were virtually flawless. Mitt Romney knows of what he speaks. The international negotiations that Romney had to go through to change Olympic protocol by allowing the American flag found in the ruins of the World Trade Center to be displayed at the Salt Lake Olympics was nothing short of historic. Flags of any individual nation are not to be "singled out" during the Games, but Romney went through intense international negotiations to make one of the great moment in our lifetimes happen. Watch the video and tell me it doesn't give you chills to see this again and be reminded of this moment in time.
Also ignored is Barack Obama's Olympic experience. Does the media remember the trip he made to Europe to try to win the Games for his hometown, Chicago, while as president in 2009? How did that turn out? What is Obama's history with the Olympics? Like with so many things in his administration, it is a history of failure. Obama boldly proclaimed he was going to Copenhagen to bring the Games to Chicago and the International Olympic Committee laughed at him. Chicago didn't make it out of the First Round. "I urge you to choose Chicago," Obama told the IOC. Wow, quite a pitch there, Barack. Fail. Let's see how often the media mention Obama's Olympic experience.
In spite of actual performance, the Activist Old Media is dead set on changing history and creating a template where Romney is seen as a failure, and Obama's numerous gaffes and policy failures are ignored. The Olympics are just the media's latest vehicle to use.

The Three Biggest Changes To The World When Romney Becomes President

(Note from publisher-This article came to me, written by an author in Russia about the perspective from businessmen in his country.)

The view from a conservative American businessman living in Russia
In almost every setting here in Russia, I’m asked as an American what I think of President Obama.  It is a sort of great therapy experience to be able to express myself in the Russian manner of offering opinions concerning systemically pathetic apparatchiks.

Then I’m also asked about Romney’s potential to challenge Obama. This is also very therapeutic as I lay out the top three changes that will happen in the world if he is elected.

From my unique viewpoint from this peculiarly humbled, country the greatest impact will be what happens in respect to: 1, King Dollar, 2, Oil going below $60, and, 3, Russia and China coming to terms with a real capitalist.

King Dollar comes about when President Romney, the stern school teacher, reenters the chaotic classroom, slams a yardstick firmly on the table, and, pointing to the rabble rousers, says, “that’s enough of that.” Class will now come to order. Perceptions by the unions (I’m living in the mother of all unions, everyone works for a union here, and I mean everyone), banks, government workers and everyone else will instantly change, because fiscal and monetary order will be re-established. Just the structural attitude of a US president who knows what he is talking about, coupled with a Paul Ryan disciplined budgetary process, and the Dollar returns to sanity as everyone starts to get real.

This will make the non monetized currencies around the world become very weak. Russia will be hurting big time as they try to make sense out of a possible extinction of the Euro.  If the Russian central bank doesn’t off load its overextended position in Euro reserves, they will really be in for a ride to try and stabilize an ever increasing worthless Ruble. I’m watching the Ruble staying very low against US Dollars because of this position. They will hate to become dollar denominated again, not to mention the rest of the world. When Barack and Geitner are replaced, and Krugman starts his new career as an interior decorator, the FED just might stop printing in time to allow confidence to return to the Ben Franklins everyone loves to hate.

Oil below $60 a barrel comes about as President Romney immediately turns the US inward to a national developed energy bonanza. This will just put another world of hurt on Putin’s cronies. It’s a very strange economy here that only starts revealing its underbelly as you start opening your eyes and see the best system of corruption the Mafia can buy. Russia has only one export that anyone in the world cares about, Oil and Gas. They dump titanium and aluminum and arms on the world markets but lately, more efficient suppliers are impacting that cash for resources program. The world of unions, soviets, and socialists, just cannot compete. Working wages here are ridiculously low …trying to compensate for shoddy workmanship, which I believe has something to do with national pride, which is almost non-existent.
This situation here reminds me of what happened in Las Vegas in the 80’s and 90’s. The mob was running the old standards like the Tropicana, Stardust, Castaways, and the Fitzgerald downtown, and due to the way the mob works, paying off the “up line” creamed all the cash that would otherwise be available for modernizing and competing with the likes of Steve Wynn’s Mirage (built with Junk Bonds that actually paid off) and so, unable to compete, they had to sell off to the corporation boys who could manage cash flow, and re-invest to make much bigger, better valued destination resorts. The cronyism program doomed those hotels to the extent that the entire mob ended up only controlling the trash and a few laundries. Even those were lost to them after a short time. That is what is happening internally in Russia.

Putin has about 35 million pensioners…who don’t get much, but what they do get, keeps them home and quiet. Add those to the huge overburdened bureaucracy coupled with a modernizing effort for the Military, and Putin’s financial boys are sweating anything below $80 per barrel. It would be very difficult to have a 3rd devaluation of the Ruble in the last 23 years. Watching ones bank balance reduced when the decimal point is moved over one place again is just about more than even tough old Russians can take.
I had to laugh when Joe Biden made the comment about Russia being on board with Iran’s sanctions.

Wow! What an absolute joke. Putin will do anything, taking even enormous risks, to destabilize oil in an effort to keep prices high. Their support of Assyria, Iran, Egypt and Islam to foment for war with Israel is a wide open strategy here.  Everyone knows Russia has to somehow keep world pricing of oil above, well above, $80 a barrel just to break even. So when Romney takes the shackles off the US oil industry, just watch how Russia plays with the supply to Europe through the Middle East to keep futures trending above supplies.

Russia and China come to terms with a real, honest capitalist. As President Romney starts to call out protectionist monetary maneuvering by China and makes various counter moves it will have a beneficial impact on our balance of payments. If China wants to dump their treasuries, good, go ahead, Europe will be snatching them up big time. It’s pathetic that Russia’s opinion about the US has devolved into their profiling us as a bunch of naïve babies. Not that that matters much, but it does wear the US down with all the mischief the Putin regime likes to delve in around the hot spots in the world. Much like Ronald Reagan’s perception by the Ayatollah’s in Iran, his speak was clear enough that they didn’t want to take him on in any manner, so they returned those poor unfortunate American hostages just before he was sworn in. Carter’s foreign policy was weak; Obama’s lead from behind / blowing in the wind joke of Hillary type of a blind date gone wrong leadership is the reason the world’s class room resembles a bunch of 13 year olds hopped up on sugar.

Romney is just too good to be true. He will be one of the most honorable & classy candidates to make Americans proud since Ronald Reagan. You can see it so much clearer over here. Putin is trying to pay women to have children.  As a result more are having 1 child for the 30,000 rubles (about $10,000 US) but not two (it takes 2.2 children per woman just to stay even, currently Russia is averaging 1.3, and will lose over 30 million people in the next 12 years). Why? Couples cannot support them based on real wages in Russia today. You absolutely cannot start a business, and if you do, and it’s successful, the mob moves in and takes it over. They give ownership two choices; you can walk out, or go out feet first. Everyone laments that they are being squeezed by low wages, high inflation and no opportunities. They lament that they’re always in the position that ‘they have to keep the wolf fed and the sheep safe’.

I admit that from my distant perspective, I’m afraid Romney won’t get elected because people back home in the US may want their government handouts more than they want reality. If that happens, reality will hit the US hard and quick, and then those checks won’t be worth the paper their printed on and when even a small part of discomfort begins, survival of the fittest enters in, That reality starts to really suck. This part of the world is the full natural extension of every leftist dream.  They’ve done just about everything liberals wish for, in spades. Why oh why can’t the liberals all come over here to central Europe, set up Liberal Leftist land to welcome all the like minded warm and fuzzies, give everyone a government job, full Obama style medical care, 6 week vacations, Government housing, free dead brain education and concerts, and a Chevy Volt, and of course a complicit press corp., and leave the rest of the worlds real people alone.

When Children Set The Agenda

Political opponents have often accused each other of acting like children when it comes to setting policy and agenda, but it appears with the Democrat party, we have literally gone there.

Children apparently are now making decisions for their elders on America's social agenda.

Take Barack Obama and Harry Reid as they gave their reasons for "evolving" in their support of gay marriage. The President of the United States of America says he talked to his daughters, Sasha and Malia about the issue, and...well...you read what he said and see if you don't come to the conclusion that his girls convinced him. "It (opposition to gay marriage) doesn't make sense to them (Sasha and Malia) and frankly, that's the kind of thing that prompts a change in perspective," said the Leader of the Free World

As for the Senate Majority Leader, Reid...well...you read what he said and see if you don't come to the conclusion that his kids convinced him. "In talking with my children and grandchildren, it has become clear to me that they take marriage equality as a given. I have no doubt that their view will carry the future," said the top Democrat in the Senate. So it's kids and grand kids making the call for Reid.

Okay, you could argue something else is happening here and conclude that these men, two of the most powerful on the planet, are using their kids and grand kids as "cover" because they are afraid to "man-up" on this issue. Perhaps. What heartless Republican would argue with cute little kids? How would you argue with kids? Of course, since the kids of Democrats are off-limits for political criticism, no Republican would dare go after them (ask Sarah Palin if it's okay to go after Republican's kids.)

Somebody should call these brave men out for being gutless, at minimum, that's what we have here. "Here, let's put the kids out in front of us and we'll duck behind them." Gay Americans have to be proud of the principled way Obama and Reid are defending them. At least Joe Biden didn't hang this on his offspring.

Another thing is happening here, and that's the coordination between Obama and Reid to both use their children as cover on the gay marriage issue, or, perhaps we're supposed to guess that was just coincidence. Quick, somebody find out what Nancy Pelosi's kids think!

If children are advising the Commander in Chief and the Senate Majority Leader on issues like these, are they also advising on the economy and jobs? Actually, I'm guessing their kids could give them better advice. They couldn't do any worse.

This could spark a surge of Kids in Charge.

The kids should ask for ice cream and Ding Dongs and demand that government provide them to everybody for "free." That's what I would've done back in the day. If children can set the social agenda, why not the food agenda? Would Michelle overrule the kids? Who knows? Barack didn't.

Remember, this is the same Democrat party that uses Hilary Rosen as one of its top advisers. Rosen criticized the Romney family recently because Mitt turned to his wife for advice on the economic concerns of women. Rosen said Ann Romney could not be qualified because she "never worked a day in her life." How dare a wife advise a husband on economic concerns.

Maybe Mitt should've asked his grand kids.

The Pranks of The Activist Old Media

At first, I thought the story was a prank.

A joke that somebody pulled on the media and a prankster was going to jump out of a box in the newsroom at the Washington Post and yell, "Gotcha!"

Maybe John Quinones of ABC would pop out from behind a wall and say this was just a joke and they wanted to see how the media would react to a bogus non-story from 50 years ago about a Republican candidate.

Sadly, it's no joke, the media is actually serious about this "bullying" story.

It's the media who are really the mindless bullies in this scenario, foolishly attacking the Republican candidate for President because he dares to challenge their Dear Leader for the top spot in the White House.

Where are the adults in the media? They want to be taken seriously, but now they are the ones pulling the high-stakes, dangerous "pranks" to protect Barack Obama.

I agree that calling this story, and others like it (see: "Dog" stories) a "prank" understates the value the media believes that it has, but they are going at it full speed, 100%, as if this is the biggest story of the day to the electorate. Forget the fact that they made most of it up and have numerous facts just totally wrong, this story fits the template that they want to put on the Evil, Rich, White, Mormon, Hates Animals, Bully, Republican Candidate for President.

The media has virtually ignored Obama's pot smoking, cocaine filled, anti-white, anger filled high school days---where he also admits to shoving and bullying a girl name Coretta because he was mad at her---and they go after Romney for one incident mis-reported, overblown, and mischaracterized. Where are those in the media working to find Coretta and see how she's doing? WaPo? Whaddya think? Maybe a story there?

Of course, there is no story in either case.

We all see what's going here. The media is acting like children. Perhaps they are still going through the Terrible Twos and should be made to go to Time Out. The race for President of The United States of America has now devolved into an argument about what one of the candidates (not the other candidate, just one of the candidates) did during high school? Did I wake up on Sesame Street this morning?

A "troubling account" and "troubling scene" is what ABC called this silly story. Naw---I'll tell you where the real trouble is right now, and its in your New York newsrooms.

Analyst Matthew Dowd on ABC thinks this story is even bigger, he said, "I don't think this puts an end to the story. It touches on something that touches every one of us, which is our high school experiences." He said Romney needs to say something "bigger and bolder" on this. Matthew should've added 'na, na, na, na, na, na!" after his quote. It would've made him sound smarter.

"Now it's part of the national conversation," continued Dowd. "It entered the national conversation when we were already talking about bullying in high school." Gotcha, so that's how this works. When the media wants to talk about contraceptives, or gay marriage, or what you call "bullying," then the Republican candidates are forced to talk about it because it's part of the "national conversation," that you create. Gotcha. For the next 6 months the media will make, as part of the "national conversation," anything they feel will be beneficial to Obama. When will the activist old media start talking about the destruction of America and it's Constitution? I guess we have to wait until you think it's time to have that adult discussion. Until then it's "criss cross, apple sauce, nobody takes my seat."

I'm guessing Matt was serious. He wants us all to go back to times when we were bullied in high school (as we all apparently were,) pretend it was Mitt Romney pulling the prank and hate him for it, and refuse to vote for him because of it. Yep, that's exactly what we should think of when we are deciding who the next leader of the Free World is. Romney is Brutus Ratman, the senior who put olives in my milk while I was a freshman (BTW, not his real name. I don't want the WaPo to seek us out in case either of us ever decide to run for office.)

The family of the boy (John) who allegedly has his hair cut (that part is even contested) says he was not gay and they are angry that he is being used to further a political agenda. John died in 2004, so the media can't check with the person they have made the chief victim of Evil, Rich, White, Mormon, Hates Animals, and Maybe Bullies Maybe Gay Guys, while in high school, Romney.

Seriously, when they first considered this story in the newsroom in the Washington Post where was the one sane person there to tell them how nuts this idea was? Not there. This is the "Woodward and Bernstein Newsroom" coming up with this garbage.

Barack Obama has quadrupled the American deficits, is taking the debt to new heights, destroying the economy, or at least, doesn't know how to fix it, and we're supposed to be worried about what Mitt Romney might have done in high school? Was this whole thing a prank by the media who are trying to bully the public into thinking what they think is important to them is important to us? Just give us a noogie next time, WaPo.

Foolish Question of The Week

"Can Romney get on the cover of the Rolling Stone?"
This question was asked by none other than the brilliant Chris Matthews to his panel of fellow leftists on his syndicated Sunday show.

The show began with Matthews calling President Barack Obama a "rock star," and presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney a "square." Bingo. There's that template that is tireless in trying to help the left get votes for their Dear Leader. Later in the show the question was asked why "polls say" Obama will supposedly get the youth vote. I dunno, maybe it has something to do with the media mantra?

Chris set the question up by talking about what a "rock star" John F. Kennedy was and how Barack Obama is the new rock star president. We've heard this theme from him before. I think Chris has a very real struggle over who to worship more, Kennedy or Obama? Earlier in the show Matthews asked his favorite question, the one he has already asked at least a hundred times during this campaign; "who is the most likable candidate?"

Seriously, I think Chris has a problem and needs some psychoanalysis. I'll try a little of it here.

Chris, just because you have to feel a thrill up your leg for a politician, doesn't mean we all do. You seem to have this bizarre obsession with American's having to fall in love with politicians and follow them with some sort of fawning worship. At one level it's silly, and at another level it's dangerous. Germany loved Hitler. He was their rock star. Every maniacal totalitarian leader first needs the public to be blinded by their "greatness" before he can turn them to serfs.

Or, I can put it this way; if my wife or one of my kids ran for office, I could love that politician, but short of that.....

Chris, you should really get this obsession with "loving" politicians checked out. This is not normal.

I don't need a presidential candidate on the cover of Rolling Stone, I want Jimmy Page on the cover of Rolling Stone. I want my president to get out there, do a great job protecting the Constitution and staying out of my life. That's about it. Obama has not done that, I believe Mitt Romney will. I want Rolling Stone to tell me how Led Zeppelin recorded "When The Levee Breaks" in an old British castle in the countryside.

Matthews' panelist Liz Marlantes from the Christian Science Monitor responded to the question of whether Romney could get on the cover of Rolling Stone with this; "I don't think so, well, we'll see, who knows?" I think she was a little shocked by the foolish question.

I will say this to Chris, I don't know if Romney will get on the cover of Rolling Stone, but I do know that if he does, the article inside will be packed with lies. That's part of the template as well.
